Outdoor things to do in Raleigh

There are many nice places to visit for outdoor fun. The following are what I recommend.

Flea Market

Flea Market on the State Fair Ground

Pullen Park – is a city park with a lot of things to do for children, Choo Choo train ride, , paddle boat rental, Children’s sand playground, Children’s toy rides, Olympic size swimming pool, picnic place. Admission is free

Flea Market – A fun place to go on the weekend if you enjoy bargain hunting. This is the place where amateur or small vendors come and sell their unique items. Everything from furnitures to plants, food and even household pets.

JC Raulston Aboretum – An aboretum which belongs to NC state, featuring plants grown in NC, and different types of garden i.e. Herb garden, Western plants garden. Very nice place to relax and enjoy different types of plants. Admission is free.

Duke Garden - Durham

Sarah P. Duke Garden - Durham

Sarah P. Duke Garden is a must-see garden if you visit Raleigh. It belongs to Duke University and is the most photographed garden in Raleigh. With acres of land, Duke Garden is filled with plants and flowers from all parts of the world. Admission is free.

Outdoor movie at the museum of art – NC museum of art features outdoor movies in Summer. You pack your own picnic food and blanket and enjoy watching movies under the stars.

Koka Booth Amphitheater at Regency Park – is an outdoor theater featuring NC symphony orchestra, movies by moonlight, and the most well-known event is the July 4th firework celebration at Regency park. People reserved their spot for 5-6 hours to watch the firework.

Raleigh Little Theater A non-profit organization exist to enrich, entertain and educate citizens of Triangle about performing arts and theater experience.

Lake Jordan - Chapel-Hill

Lake Jordan Water Sports

Lake Jordan – Largest Lake in this area with approximately 14,000 acres of water located in Apex, about an hour drive from Raleigh. This lake is managed by the NC division of parks and recreation. Activities here include Hiking, Boating, Bald Eagle watching, picniking, camping, fishing and swimming. See details about the usage of the park at the site.
