North Carolina Museum of History (FREE)The NCMH is good place for family fun. Featuring North Carolina history, American Indian history, North Carolina music. It is good for history education for those interested in history of the South.Museum of Art (FREE) – See also Day Trips
Discount Movie Theater ($)This Carmike Cinema Theatre only costs $1.50 per movie. Why it is so cheap ? Nothing more than the fact that you will not see the most recently released movies. If you can wait, it is worth the money.
IMAX Theater ($)The IMAX theater at Marbles Kids Museum features 3-D movies. Many of them are documentary in nature. Good educational resources as well as entertainment for children and adults. I highly recommend this place.Raleigh Memorial Auditorium ($$-$$$)This is the place where Broadway Series South are shown. It is the center of performing arts in NC. – See also Night on the Town
Museum of Life and Science in Durham ($$) – A good place for science explorations for children (and adults will enjoy them too!). The museum has hands-on exhibitions and demonstrations which allow visitors to experiment with, to learn the science of nature. Plenty of indoor fun from tornado simulator, to outdoor butterfly house, farm yard. It is really worth the price for what you are getting.
UNC Morehead Planetarium Science Center ($) has many planetarium shows in the dome shape theater – Astronaut, Blackholes, Earth, Moon, Sun, Skywatching sessions, Children, Adults and Family classes
Frankies Fun Park($-$$) – is a fun park with both indoor and outdoor activities for adult and children. The indoor portion of the park has Arcade games, Laser tags, Restaurants. The outdoor portion has miniature golf, rookie track, Bumper Boats, Road Course. It is located right in the heart of the Triangle so it is easy to get to and
the games are fun.
